In the field of power equipment, the name "Oil Immersed Transformer" comes directly from its core structural features. This type of transformer completely immerses the key electromagnetic components inside in a special insulating oil. This structural design is the fundamental mark that distinguishes it from other types of transformers.
The 30kva Oil Immersed Transformer is mainly composed of an iron core, windings and an insulation system. Its most notable external feature is a metal box or corrugated shell with heat sinks, and the internal space is filled with a large amount of insulating oil. When the transformer is put into operation, the current passes through the winding to generate working heat. The insulating oil plays multiple key roles in this process:
First, as an efficient dielectric to block the current path between components with different potentials.
Second, as a heat transfer medium, it brings heat from the internal heating area to the surface of the box through convection.
At the same time, the flowing oil can also isolate the air from contact, inhibiting the aging process of the key internal materials.
This internal oil-immersed structure makes it particularly suitable for long-term operation outdoors or in places with harsh environmental conditions. The presence of insulating oil greatly improves the reliability of the internal insulation of the equipment, and its thermal capacity characteristics also effectively slow down the temperature rise rate of the equipment when the load fluctuates. Although the oil level and oil quality need to be checked regularly, this design provides the transformer with stable and predictable service capabilities for many years. The reliance on and application of "oil" is the most essential technical footnote of the name "oil-immersed".
